Stripes, peas, curls - you can sew an original bag from companion fabrics in just half a day. Fabrics are cut and stitched in strips, and therefore the sewing process does not take much time.
You will need
- 65 x 75 cm blue polka dot fabric for stripes and lining- 65 x 40 cm gray polka dot fabric for stripes and pens
- 65 x 75 cm cream fabric for strips, sides and top trim
- ironing pad
- paper for building patterns
Tip: The fabrics used for the upper side of the bag and for the lining form a beautiful contrast. The lower inner slice of the upper edge of the bag is wrapped and sewn to the lining manually.
Step 1: strip cutting, sewing, ironing
From three different fabrics, cut 6 strips of size. 8.5 x 59 cm. All details already include allowances for seams 1 cm wide. Stitch 2 strips of different fabrics face to face along the long sides, iron allowances. By analogy, grind the remaining strips of fabric with different patterns on the long sides. As a result, you should get a large rectangular canvas. Measure the size of the canvas and cut out the corresponding rectangular piece of the gasket. Iron it according to the manufacturer's instructions on the wrong side (see figure).Step 2: the sides of the bag
Cut 2 rectangles size. 12 x 25 cm of cream fabric for the sides. Reinforce with their gasket.Poke the side parts and stitch them face to face to the front and back sides of the bag. At the same time, start and finish the seam, not reaching 1 cm to the lower and upper edges (see. Fig.). Cut off the allowances at the bottom corners.Step 3: turning the bag with handles
For pens, cut 4 strips of size. 5 x 40 cm of gray polka dot fabric. Iron the gasket on the wrong side. Fold the two rectangles face to face and cleanly grind along the long sides. To grind, cut 4 rectangles of size. 8 x 32 cm in cream cloth. Iron the gasket on the wrong side. Fold in two parts face to face and chip on three sides (two short and one long). Insert the ends of one handle into the upper edge of the bag so that they protrude slightly from above (see. Fig.). Stitch the narrow sides and the long side of the edge with the handle. Sew the second trim with the handle in the same way.Step 4: Build
Assemble the upper section of the bottom (front and back) parts of the bag with sweeping stitches so that its length exactly matches the length of the lower section of the envelope (see. Fig.). Stitch the outer cuts of the facing face to the gathered upper cuts of the bag. Cut out a rectangle of size lining fabric. 59 x 41 cm and 2 rectangles 12 x 25 cm in size. Large rectangle and two small grind, as described above for the front, back and side of the bag, except for the gasket.Face to face, put the lining of the bag over the flap bag. Chip and grind the outer and inner parts of the bag from above along the cuts of the side parts, then put the lining in the bag.Assemble both upper cuts of the lining with dressing stitches so that it is the same length as the lower cut of the lining. Lining to a depth of approx. 1 cm inside the grind, pin and sew by hand.
