The most important thing is to choose a truly legendary item for your collection!
Vintage fashion is not just a collection of old things. Therefore, you should not get things from the attics or mezzanines, if they lie there for less than 20 years. And if they have been lying for more than 20 years, then each thing should be considered very carefully for whether it is really vintage, and not just retro.
First of all, a thing should reflect the style of its era. Then it should be exclusive, that is, not “consumer goods”, but a part of clothes from the fashion collection or from the fashion brand.
By the way the term "vintage" - from the vocabulary of winemakers, it means a very high-quality wine that has been aged for several decades under excellent conditions, due to which it acquired an exclusive taste. It is impossible to reproduce exactly, it is a true rarity. The same can be said about the real vintage thing.
Every vintage collector is well versed in their history. Yes, and fashion trends themselves are often born out of the desire of designers to explore the fashion of forgotten eras - and they find many new and interesting ideas in it.
Often collectors collect the work of one or another designer. Such collections are sold very quickly and expensively.It is especially beneficial to collect early models of famous brands. Moreover, unique items are in high demand among collectors.

Despite the high cost, vintage clothing is worn - it helps to create a unique individual style. Such things are perceived not as junk, but as works of art.
Who wears vintage clothes? Perhaps these are people of a special warehouse. Above all, they value in clothes originality and free-thinking, intricate forms, the combination of national traditions with modern fashion, the achievements of designers who at one time turned the fashion world upside down, coming up with very special, new principles of cutting and sewing.
If you decide to buy a vintage item (vintage), first get acquainted with the minimum definitions:
"Mint" - not used: a thing in perfect condition, is extremely rare.
"Nearmint" - almost never used.
Or
"Verygood" - very good, but with defects, which may include stains, and old curled dirt.
"Good" - good, but with non-removable defects (for example, with non-washable stains).
"Excellent" - in excellent condition, that is, a thing that was worn no more than 2-3 times.
You may also be offered authentic vintage (script), non-vintage (vintage styling) or combined vintage. A real vintage will only be in the first case. Neovintazh is an antique thing, and combined vintage, as a rule, is artificially aged things.
When buying a vintage item, do not focus on the size indicated on it - over time, standards change. It’s better to buy a vintage item a size larger than then trying to stretch it (of course, if you are going to wear it).
Tip for those who are going to wear vintage items: it’s best not to mix them with other vintage items. As a rule, they are worn separately, and even jewelry (for example, rings with a large stone on top of the glove) is added to a minimum. The most successful ensembles give a combination of genuine and pseudo-vintage. By the way, pseudo-vintage, artificially aged items are a great alternative to genuine vintage, they often look the same as genuine designer items from 20-100 years ago, but you can buy them not at all so expensive.
By the way, vintage fashion has also touched on perfumes, perfumes of famous brands are at least twice as expensive as new items.
