The Costume Institute's annual ball, this year dedicated to the art of Rei Kawakubo, gathered a number of extravagant and eccentric outfits on the red carpet.

The traditional ball of the American Met Institute Costume Institute 2017 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, once again presented the most daring and incredible couture outfits. This year, the theme of the event, like the exhibition, to which the ball was timed, was the work of Ray Kawakubo.
Perhaps the most unusual one can rightfully be called the image of Cara Delevingne, who not so long ago shaved her head for a role in the movie and appeared at the event with a very impressive decor in the form of silver paint and rhinestones. In general, critics praised this cosmic image, but fans seem to be discussing this eccentric model output for a long time to come.
Katy Perry made no less noise by appearing on the red carpet in a Maison Margiela dress. The image was complemented by a veil to the tone of the dress, on which the word Hotness was embroidered, and Perry's head was decorated with a metal crown made of wire. In addition, the dress was accompanied by a huge train.
The singer Rihanna, who also remained faithful to the theme of the ball, withstood the degree of extravagance: she appeared in a very unusual dress of the Japanese house Comme des Garçons, designed by Ray Kawakubo.
Kim Kardashian surprised everyone, but in a very unusual way! The scandalous diva appeared in an incredibly modest by its own standards dress from Vivienne Westwood. Despite the simplicity, the white dress can not be called modest, but in frankness and sexuality with Kim Kardashian there was someone to compete: what were the costumes of Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid?
However, there was a place for classics: many stars preferred strict elegance to striking outrageous. And some, for example, Dakota Johnson, Salma Hayek and Katie Holmes, opted for stylish total black looks.

Others, for example, El Fanning, Jennifer Lopez and Jessica Chastain, appeared in gentle pastel colors, which, of course, are very far from the avant-garde, but still looked very worthy.
