A weightless delicate silk chiffon with a flickering print is ideal for a beach sundress on thin straps. Sewing it is not difficult, and, most importantly, you do not need a pattern!

Do you want a quick and easy-to-wear new thing for your vacation?

I propose to sew a beautiful sundress, which will be appropriate both on the beach, and as an independent product, as well as complete with shorts or linen trousers and light jeans.

You will need:

✂ drawing;

✂ Two cuts of silk chiffon 90x90 cm in size;

✂ Needles and thread for sewing;

✂ Tailor scissors for thin fabrics;

✂ Tailor crayon or aqua marker;

✂ Pins for thin fabrics;

✂ Ruler;

✂ Centimeter tape

Recommended fabrics:

light, softly draped dress materials (silk, chiffon, cambric, muslin, fine viscose, staple).

You can also use ready-made silk scarves measuring 90x90 cm.

Thread

For sewing details, use thin overlock threads, chameleon threads for thin and silk fabrics, as well as the so-called “lower” bobbin threads that are used for embroidery on a sewing machine.

Step 1

From silk chiffon, cut out two identical cuts measuring 90x90 cm.

How to cut fabric evenly

If desired, the length of the sundress can be increased by 10-15 cm, depending on your height.Then the dimensions of the parts will be 90x100 cm or 90x115 cm.

Step 2

Fold the silk chiffon cuts with the wrong sides to each other.

Using a ruler and tailor's chalk according to the drawing, draw the lines of the side seams.

Cut it out.

Step 3

According to the drawing, mark the straps with crayons or tailor pins for silk.

Step 4

Sweep and grind the side seams with a narrow French seam.

Iron the seam allowances, and then iron on the back.

Step 5

Tuck the upper sections of the sundress twice to a width of 1 cm, bast, iron and scribble.

Step 6

Bottom on the overlock with a role seam.

Step 7. Straps

Cut two strips 4 cm wide.

Fold the straps in half with the front side inward.

Stitch along long sections, departing from the edge of 1 cm.

Iron the seam.

Cut the allowance to a width of 2-3 mm.

Turn the straps out, sweep, iron, and then carefully remove the basting.

Cut the straps to the desired length and sew them to the sundress.

Instead of fabric straps, you can use decorative chains.

Done!
