How to embroider a "coil" motif

Decorate your homemade make-up bag with embroidery - the “reel” sewing motif. Or send them tags to personalize your handmade project. This will give the finished product exclusivity.

This is a very simple embroidery, even beginners will be able to do it without much difficulty: three coils are embroidered with a cross and the inscription with a stitched seam. We decorated the finished cosmetic bag with applique with this embroidery.

Cross Stitch for Beginners

You will need:

• 1 skein of floss thread for embroidery of three different colors
• 1 needle for embroidery
• zigzag scissors
• marker
• glue for textiles
• natural color canvas 15 x 15 cm
• a cosmetic bag or any other product that you want to decorate with embroidery
• 2 wooden mini coils
• 1 safety pin for decor

Size of applique with embroidery: 9 x 6 cm

How to embroider coils

In the center of the canvas flap, using three-fold embroidery floss, embroider the “coil” motif with a cross.

Embroider the upper and lower parts of the coils with a stitched seam.

Embroider the contour of the spools with black thread with a “back to needle” seam.
Draw letters over the embroidered motif marker (kk is shown in the figure above) and embroider them with a stitched seam with floss thread.

10 basic stitches for embroidery: a master class

On the canvas, circle the shape of an ellipse using a paper template, making sure that the embroidered motif with letters is located exactly in the center.
Cut the ellipse with zigzag scissors. Glue the application with glue for textiles in the center of the cosmetic bag.
The final touch - we added a funny brooch to the zipper, hung a mini-reel on a safety pin.
